The Central University of Kerala came into being in 2009 under the Act of Parliament “The Central Universities Act, 2009 (Act.No.25 of 2009). The Central university of Kerala aims to focus on the development of an ‘individual’ in order to achieve environmental harmony and societal development. Their noble vision of “caring wisdom” depicts that the University’s administration is trying their best to educate an individual in way that he/she feel ‘cared’ by the wisdom which they are offering. According to the University’s vision this can be achieved by enhancing the intellectual capacity of an individual.
Programs and Courses
Central University of Kerala comprises of 10 departments which are categorized under four schools. University of Kerala only offers postgraduate and doctorate programs currently. The schools and departments are mentioned below. School of Languages and Comparative Literature includes Department of Comparative literature, Department of Hindi and Department of Linguistics.
School of Global Studies includes Department of Economics and Department of International Relations
School of Biological Sciences includes Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Department of Genomic Science, Department of Animal Science and Department of Plant Science.
School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences includes Department of Physics, Department of Computer Science and Department of Mathematics. School of Energy, Environment & Earth Sciences includes Department of Environmental Sciences. School of Humanities & Social Sciences includes Department of Social Work.
