The University of Agricultural Sciences was established in the year 1964. The university sprawls over an area of 1,300 acres. It provides top notch quality education in the field of agriculture in particular. The objective of the university is to impart academic knowledge and education for the growth and assistance of Agricultural sector of the country. The university aims to meet with the requirements of the farming community in order to facilitate them with teaching and research.

The university comprises of six constituent colleges in which undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses are proffered. College of Agriculture, Bangalore has departments of Agronomy, Crop Physiology, Agricultural Economics, Food Science and Nutrition, Agricultural Entomology , Department of Distance Education, Agricultural Engineering, Forestry and Environmental Science, Agricultural Extension, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agricultural Marketing Co-Operation, Horticulture, Agricultural Microbiology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Statistics, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Seed Science and Technology, Apiculture, Sericulture, Biotechnology and Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry. College of Agriculture, Shimoga has departments of Crop Improvement, Crop Production, Crop Protection and Social Science. College of Agriculture, Mandya has departments of Crop Improvement, Crop Production, Crop Protection and Social Science. College of Agriculture, Hassan has departments of Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Entomology, Agronomy, Crop Physiology,Farm Forestry,Genetics and Plant Breeding, Horticulture,Physical Education. College of Forestry, Ponnampet has departments of Forestry, Silviculture and Agroforestry, Natural Resources Management, Forest Biology and Tree Improvement, Forest Biology and Tree Improvement. College of Sericulture, Chintamani.
Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025
In order to get the admission in the undergraduate courses, an applicant should have the intermediate education. For the admissions in the postgraduate, one must possess a bachelor’s degree. Admissions are normally awarded through entrance test and merit basis.
In order to get admission in B.S.C, B.Tech. (Agri.Engg.) and B.Tech.(Food Science) programs, students are required to pass two years PUC of Karnataka or any other Science subject, Inter(Agri.)or its equivalent examination with PCB. In order to get admission in degree programs, there is no requirement for CET test.Merit will be based on PCB marks for Sl. No. 1 and PCM marks for Sl. No. 2.
