Named after the seventh president of India, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University was established on 2nd February 1970. It is situated in the city of Hisar which is in the state of Haryana, India. Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University has crowned itself as one of the biggest Agricultural Universities in Asia. Moreover, it also contributes largest amount of research papers than any other agricultural university in the country. Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University also collaborates with various international institutions and regionally it has 8 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Agricultural Science Centres), 12 Krishi Gyan Kendras (Agricultural Knowledge Centres), 6 Disease Investigation Labs, Regional Research Stations and a Training Institute.

The CCS HAU comprises of four colleges which are mentioned below with their respective departments: College of Agriculture has following departments: Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Agricultural Meteorology, Business Management, Dryland Agriculture, Entomology, Extension Education, Forestry , Horticulture, Nematology, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Seed Science and Technology, Soil Science and Vegetable Crops. College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology has following departments: Farm Machinery & Power Engineering, Soil & Water Engineering, Processing & Food Engineering, Basic Engineering Section and Instrumentation Cell.
College of Basic Sciences and Humanities includes Bioinformatics Section, Botany and Plant Physiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry & Physics, Computer Section, Languages & Haryanvi Culture, Math & Statistics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, Sociology and Zoology and Aquaculture.
College of Home Sciences has following departments: Extension Education and Communication Management, Family Resource Management, Foods and Nutrition, Human Development and Family Studies and Textile and Apparel Designing.
