The University of Calicut was established in the year 1968. The university’s motive is to disseminate the education into the society. The main objectives of the university include development of human resources and to provide excellent higher education in order to the serve the masses.The university has about 304 colleges affiliated to it in the region.

Programs and Courses

The university comprises of four faculties in which undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs are offered. Following are the faculties along with their departments. Faculty of Science includes departments of Department of Biotechnology, Department of Botany, Department of Chemistry, Department of Computer Science, Department of Life Sciences, Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, Department of Statistics and Department of Zoology. Faculty of Humanities includes Centre for Folklore Studies, Department of Commerce and Management studies, Department of Economics, Department of History, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Department of Library and Information Science, Department of Philosophy, Department of Psychology, Kunhali Marakkar Centre for West Asian Studies, School of Drama and Centre for Womens's Studies. Faculty of Language and Literature includes Department of Malayalam, Department of Russian, Department of Sanskrit, Department of English, Department of Hindi, and Department of Arabic. Faculty of Education includes Department of Education and Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

One can get admission in the undergraduate course after passing the entrance examination and he/she should also successfully clear the intermediate examination first. Apart from this, for the postgraduate course, bachelor degree is required. For foreign students the criteria for admission is following GMAT = 550 GRE = 280 SAT = 1600.
