University of Pune was established in the year 1949. The university sprawls over an area of 411 acres. The university is one of the most preferred in the region because of the excellent education it proffers. The university enjoys jurisdiction over 12 districts of the state. The University of Pune has around 433 affiliated colleges to it. The NAAC has granted the university ‘A’ rating.

Departments and Centers:

Faculty of Fine Arts include departments of Centre for Advanced Study in Sanskrit, Centre for Performing Arts, English, Foreign Languages, Geography, Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit & Prakrit Languages and Pali. Faculty of Science includes departments of Atmospheric and Space Sciences, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Communication Studies, Computer Science, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Geology, Geography, Geoinformatics, Instrumentation (USIC), Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Statistics and Zoology. Faculty of Commerce include department of Commerce and Research. Faculty of Management includes the department of Management Science. Faculty of Law has the department of Law. Faculty of Education & Extension Program has the departments of Education & Extension and Advanced Technology Blind Student's Learning Center. Faculty of Mental, Moral and Social Science includes the departments of Adult Continuing Education & Extension, Anthropology, Philosophy, Communication & Journalism, Economics, History, Politics & Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Library & Information Science and Defense & Strategic Studies. Faculty of Physical Education has the department of Physical Education.

Admission Procedure 2017 - 2018

The exact eligibility criteria depend upon the department or course in which the individual wish to attain admission. It is necessary for every applicant to pass the entrance examination. International students should have a SAT score of 2000.
