University of Kalyani

The University of Kalyani came into being in 1960. The university is situated in the city of Kalyani which is in the Indian state of West Bengal. The mission of the university is to promote research and academic learning among the masses, to create environmental awareness, to focus on the development of the human resource in the region. Moreover, the university has many visions as well, which includes establishing a training center for the pass out students, increase in student’s enrolment by 5%, improvising the academic facilities and teaching methods…etc. The National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India has categorized the university under ‘B’ grade. There are more than 50 colleges affiliated to the University.

Programs and Courses

University of Kalyani has organized into four faculties: Science; Arts & Commerce; Education; Engineering, Technology and Management. Faculty of Science: The faculty consists of the departments such as Biochemistry & Biophysics, Botany, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Food Science, Geography, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, Physics, Physiology, Statistics, and Zoology. The Chemistry Department has the history of publishing in prestigious journals like Nature. Faculty of Arts and Commerce: The faculty consists of the departments of Adult & Continuing Education, Bengali, English, History, Political Science, Sociology, Modern Languages & Linguistic, Library & Information Science, Economics, Folklore, and Journalism & Mass Communication, Commerce (Accounting, Management, and Finance & Marketing). Faculty of Education: This faculty has 2 departments. The faculty consists of the departments of Education, Research & Development and Physical Education. Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Management: The faculty consists of the departments of Computer Science & Engineering, Digital Arts & Sciences, Information & Communication Technology, Rural Development & Management, and Business Administration (B.B.A & M.B.A).

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

There are two ways of getting the admission; one is through merit list and the other one through entrance test. Generally, an individual can apply for admissions in the undergraduate programs after completing the intermediate education and for applying in the postgraduate programs one must have a bachelor’s degree. For foreign students the criteria for admission is following GMAT = 550 GRE = 280 SAT = 1600.
