University of Colombo was established in the year 1921. The university is situated in the Sri Lankan city of Colombo. The university is regarded as the one of the top 10 universities in the South Asian region. The university is also the largest in the country.

Faculties and Departments:

The university comprises of the following faculties along with their departments.
Faculty of Arts includes departments of Demography, Economics, English, Geography, History, International Relations, Political Science & Public Policy, Sinhala and Sociology. Faculty of Education includes departments of Science & Technology Education, Humilities Education, Social Science Education and Educational Psychology. Faculty of Law has departments of Commercial Law, Private & Comparative Law and Public & International Law.
Faculty of Management and Finance has departments of Accounting, Business Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management & Org. Studies and Marketing. Faculty of Medicine has departments of Anatomy, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Clinical Medicine, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Parasitology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychological Medicine and Surgery. Faculty of Science has departments of Chemistry, Mathematics, Nuclear Science, Physics, Plant Science, Statistics and Zoology. University also has following institutes, INSTITUTE OF HUMAN RESOURCE ADVANCEMENT, INSTITUTE OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGY, BIOCHEMISTRY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY, INSTITUTE OF INDIGENOUS MEDICINE, POSTGRADUATE INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE and INSTITUTE OF AGROTECHNOLOGY AND RURAL SCIENCE

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

Admissions granted to the applicants are on the basis of the performance in the GCE advanced level examinations (minimum Z score) for the undergraduate courses. However, if one wish to get admission in the postgraduate course than he/she should complete the necessary requirements laid down by the concerned faculty. For overseas students, SAT is required with the minimum score of 2000.
