The Central institute of English was established in 1958 by of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was established to develop English language. Later on, university has broadened its scope in 1973and includes other foreign languages with English. It is situated in Hyderabad.

Programs:

University offers M.A. in Post-Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of English (PGCTE) and Post Graduate Diploma in the Teaching of English (PGDTE). M.A in English Literature, Media and Communication, Cultural Studies, TESL are also offerd as distance learning Education. EFL also offers courses in languages starting from zero-level to PhD level.MA and Post-MA Courses are offered in Language, Literature, Methodology, Culture & Civilizations, Linguistics, and Translation.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

University requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent in order to get admission in post graduate programs. Candidates must appear in Entrances test conducted by the university. International students are required to pass GRE for admission.
