Admission 2017 - 2018

Punjab University was established in the year 1956. Originally it was established in the year 1882 in Lahore (Pakistan) but after the partition, campuses got relocated. The university imparts education in wide variety of academic fields. There are around 188 affiliated colleges to the university in the region.

Programs and Courses

Faculty of Arts includes Centre for Human Rights & Duties (U.I.E.A.S.S), Police Administration (U.I.E.A.S.S), Social Work (U.I.E.A.S.S), Department cum Centre for Women's Studies & Development, Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology, Department of Defense and National Security Studies, Department of Economics, Gandhian Studies, Geography, Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, History, Library & Information Science, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration,Sociology and School of Communication Studies. Faculty of Design and Fine Arts includes Department of Arts History & Visual Arts,Indian Theatre and Music. Faculty of Education includes Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Education, Life Long Learning and Extension, Physical Education, Institute of Educational Technology & Vocational Education, University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development. Faculty of Engineering and Technology includes Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility, CIL and UCIM, Stem Cell & Tissue Engineering, University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology and University Institute of Engineering & Technology.
Faculty of Languages includes Bhai Vir Singh Chair, Chinese and Tibetan Languages, Dayanand Chair for Vedic Studies, Department of English & Cultural Studies, Department of French and Francophone Studies,German, Hindi,Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit,Urdu, Guru Ravi Das Chair of Sant Sahitya Studies, Punjabi Lexicography, Sheikh Baba Farid Chair and Vishveshvaranand Vishwa Bandhu Institute of Sanskrit and Indological Studies.
Faculty of Law includes Department of Laws, University Institute of Laws – Ludhiana, University Institute of Legal Studies.
Faculty of Medical Sciences includes Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital. Multy-Faculty Departments includes Department of Evening Studies, P.U. Regional Centre – Ludhiana, P.U. Regional Centre – Muktsar, Panjab University Rural Centre Kauni, Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre, and University School of Open Learning.

Admission Procedure 2017 - 2018

The admissions are awarded through two procedures, one is through entrance test and the other one is through merit. Apart from that, it is necessary for the candidate to have intermediate education to be eligible for admission in the undergraduate and a bachelor degree is also required for the admission in the postgraduate. University conducts common Entrance test known as C.E.T. for all programs.
