Middle East Technical University is founded under the name of "Orta Dogu Yuksek Teknoloji Enstitusu" (Middle East High Technology Institute) on November 15th, 1956, and is located in Ankara, Turkey. In 1956, the first academic program to start education was the Department of Architecture. Now, there are a total of 40 undergraduate programs in five faculties of METU. Their mission of is to apply and promote effective knowledge and to educate students with that knowledge for the cultural, social, scientific and technological development of their society. The language of teaching at METU is English. METU offers both graduate and undergraduate programs. There are 14 undergraduate programs and 2 graduate programs offers in METU.

Programs and Courses

Faculties

METU has five faculties. Faculty of Architecture includes Department of Architecture, Department of City and Regional Planning and Department of Industrial Design. Faculty of Arts and Sciences includes Department of Biology, Department of Chemistry, Department of History, Department of Mathematics and Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Department of Philosophy, Department of Physics, Department of Psychology, Department of Sociology and Department of Statistics. There is also Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences and Faculty of Education and Faculty of Engineering.

Graduate Schools

There are five Graduate schools for the students. Graduate School of Applied Mathematics, Graduate School of Informatics, Graduate School of Marine Sciences, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences and Graduate School of Social Sciences.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

For local students, admission test is compulsory. If you want to take admission as an international student, your scores of SAT and GRE must be higher than 1500.
