Karnatak University was established according to an Act of 1949 by the Bombay Presidency. It is one of the biggest universities in India that covers Uttar Kannada, Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, Bijapur, Belgaum and Bagalkot. University has many post graduate departments and faculties such as Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, Management, Science and Technology and Social Sciences. University also has 5000 students (PG, M. Phil., Ph.D.), 222 teachers and 43 post graduate departments.
