Giresun University is one of the oldest universities in Turkey. It was first started in 1962 with the name of Teachers training school for girls, and then it was transformed to Giresun Teacher’s Training School for girls in 1976 and then linked to Karadeniz Technical University in 1982. With the passage of time, new departments are faculties were added and finally the Giresun University was completed in April 13, 2007. Their vision is to provide knowledge on both national and international level. By providing scientific and technological knowledge, they want to become a university which has its own values in their country.

Faculties

There are total 7 faculties in Giresun University including Faculty of Education, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Fine Arts and Faculty of Education.

Institutes

There are three institutes in Giresun University including Institute of Natural Sciences, Institute of Social Sciences and Institute of Medical Sciences.

Schools and Vocational Schools

There are three schools which are for applied sciences, named as Gorele School of Applied Sciences, Bulancak School of Applied Sciences and Sebinkarahisar School of Applied Sciences. For graduate students, there are some vocational schools like Technical Science Vocational School, Social Science Vocational School, Tirebolu Mehmet Bayrak Vocational School, Sebinkarahisar Vocational School and Alcura Turan Bulutcu Vocational School.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

For students within the region, there is only admission test to get admitted in Giresun University. The students should have scores greater than 300 in GRE and 1600 in SAT tests to get admission as International Student.
