Named after a renowned Indian jurist, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University was established in the year 1994 in the city of Gujrat. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University is an open university which means that it provides education with ‘distance education’ facility. The university comprises of more than 507 study centers. The main mission and objective of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University is to facilitate women, handicapped persons, people living in remote place, prisoners..etc with the light of knowledge and education.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University comprises of four schools namely, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, School of Commerce and Management, School of Education Distance Education & Education Technology, School of Computer Science. The course offered in these schools are undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, diploma courses, certificate courses, vocational and professional courses, special B.Ed courses and Ph.D programs

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

The eligibility criteria for most the programs are not strict at all. For instance, the criteria for admission in the diploma courses and certificate courses is that, the individual should be above 18 and should be able to read and write but not for all the diploma/certificate courses. Moreover, for the admission is undergraduate course, an individual should have intermediate education and for post graduate an individual should possess bachelor’s degree. For foreign students the criteria for admission is GMAT = 550.
