The Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) was established on June 12, 1964 at Hyderabad. The university was formally inaugurated by March 20, 1965 by Late ShriLalBahadurShastri, the then Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. The university was renamed in 1996 in the honor and memory of great parliamentarian Acharya N.G. Ranga, who rendered remarkable selfless service for the cause of farmers and is regarded as an outstanding educationist, kisan leader and freedom fighter.

Programs and Courses

The Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (formerly Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University ) serve as a seat of learning and scholarship and also to shoulder a major responsibility for securing the economic development and improvement of the status of the rural people in the state of Andhra Pradesh through education, research and extension programs. There are 13 colleges (8 Agricultural Colleges, 1 Home Science, 2 Agricultural Engineering, 2 Food Science & Technology), 12 Polytechnics

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

Annually students are admitted in various Bachelor’s degree programmes based on the ranks obtained in the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The university conducts an entrance test for admission in Master’s degree programs and takes students on their academic record and their performance in the entrance examination. For Doctoral programs, the admission is based on entrance test followed by an interview.

International Student Admissions

The University encourages international students to seek admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs.
The application should include complete details of academic record indicating courses studied, grades obtained, medium of instruction and research work conducted for the submission of a thesis/dissertation (in case of candidates seeking admission to postgraduate degree program only). The applications thus received are scrutinized and evaluated by the concerned department (faculty head) to determine the eligibility of the candidates for admission. Students applying for admission to Ph.D. degree program should obtain a valid Research Visa from the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. The fee payable by foreign students admitted to any UG or PG degree program should pay institutional economic fee of US $ 4000 (US dollars Four thousand only) annually in addition to the normal fees payable by the Indian students.
